Who is reading your record

Nobody browses a station registry for fun. Readers arrive with a mission and leave with a shortlist: planners deciding where a downlink lands, agencies checking standards compatibility before a demonstration, network engineers assembling weather-diverse site pairs. They compare stations side by side, in one table, at the moment of decision — and then they contact somebody. The only question is whom.

What a blank field costs you

The registry never invents data. A field we can't source stays empty — and the table says so honestly: empty means not yet documented, never zero. But a buyer comparing two rows can't tell "undocumented" from "can't do it". They see this:

Every dash in your row is a question the buyer answers with someone else's number. Verification closes them all at once: you walk the record field by field with the data desk, sources attach to what you confirm, and the dashes become figures with your name behind them. It usually takes one call.

What the seal tells a buyer

The seal is one small mark, but it makes three precise claims — each one a risk the reader no longer has to price in:

“The people who run the dish have signed off on every field.”

An unverified record is our best reconstruction from public sources. A verified one has been confirmed line by line by the operator — aperture, wavelengths, rates, access terms. For a buyer, that is the difference between reading about a station and hearing from it.

“This was true within the last twelve months.”

The seal expires. When verification lapses it decays to a dated form — Verified 2026 — visible to every reader. A fresh seal is therefore a live signal, not a plaque: proof there is an operator on the other end who still answers.

“Nobody bought this.”

No field's contents, no station's inclusion, no position in the table is for sale — to you or your competitors. The seal marks the one thing only you can supply: confirmation. A badge anyone could purchase would tell a buyer nothing; this one is persuasive precisely because the data desk won't sell the rest.

How a verified record's header appears on the tracker.

Verification is free for academic and government stations — their confirmations are what make the seal mean something. Commercial stations pay an annual fee; networks verifying several stations get a network rate. Request verification and we reply with pricing for your station count.

How the review works

  1. Claim

    Submit the verification request: your station, your role, a work email, and the booking URL you want on the record.

  2. Domain check

    We correspond only with an address on the operator's own domain, and confirm on one short call that you speak for the station. No call, no seal.

  3. Record walk-through

    You get your record as a field-by-field checklist. Confirm or correct each field — corrections need a source, and go through the same data-desk review as anyone else's. How to prepare for the call →

  4. Booking link check

    The URL must land on a real scheduling or access-request page for this station — not a general marketing page.

  5. Go live

    The seal and the booking button switch on together, and the record is stamped with the verification date. You get a confirmation email with everything on record.

Why you can trust it — and why buyers do

Verification never changes what the data says — only who has confirmed it. That rule is not a limitation on what you're buying; it is the product. The moment a seal could be bought alongside a friendlier record, every seal on the site — including yours — would stop meaning anything. Independence is what you're renting your credibility from.

Common questions

Our record has an error right now. Do we have to pay to fix it?

No. Corrections are free for everyone, forever, via the contribute form — send a source and the data desk applies it. Verification is not a toll on accuracy. It is your signature on the whole record, plus the booking route.

We're an agency or a university. Why would we verify?

Because it's free, and because your record is how collaborators find you — a confirmed record with a working access-request link turns "we should talk to them someday" into a request in your inbox. The registry's credibility rests on institutional stations verifying; that's why you don't pay.

What happens if we do nothing?

Nothing punitive. Your record stays, keeps being updated from public sources, and is never ranked down. It simply carries only what's public — dashes where documentation is thin, a "last verified" date that belongs to us rather than you, and no route from the reader to your scheduling desk.
